About Steckel Park

Santa Paula Creek flows through this picturesque park that is surrounded by rolling hills, rugged mountain peaks, citrus and avocado groves. The natural beauty of the terrain coupled with large mature shade trees make this a popular location for picnics, creek side camping, hiking, biking, or wilderness exploring. Bird watchers enjoy woodpeckers, raptors, warblers, kingleys, and vireos. A large aviary in the park houses a variety of common birds and peafowl. Reservations can be made online or by calling 805-654-3951 for camping and day use at Steckel Park.

Peak Season Day Use – Please note for the safety of park users, the Ventura County Parks Department may close down a park due to capacity at anytime. Weekends are a very popular time at County Parks and most weekends during peak season, Foster Park and Steckel Park close to capacity. To ensure that you can park inside the park, please arrive early with your day use fee ready and follow all posted parking signs within the park.

The private campground north of Santa Paula Creek is leased by the County to the Ventura Ranch KOA.
